President’s Shield Meeting Report

Mike Cuffin & Nick Brown

On the 24th of September at St Mellion Golf Resort, in dry but breezy conditions 32 members of the association played a betterball stableford completion for The Presidents Shield.  The course was in superb condition for the time of year.
The local members playing their own course were favourites and they did not disappoint. However, there were four teams who carded 42pts and a countback would be required, but, a pairing from Falmouth Golf Club Nick Brown and Mick Cuffin played outstandingly well mastering the conditions perfectly to win the Presidents Shield with 44pts. (See Photo), 2nd place went to Allan Evans and Brian Pound with 24pts on the back nine.  3rd place went to Peter Mehigan and Mike Page with 22pts on the back nine. Commiserations to the pairings of Keith Field//Bruce Sobey and Johns Raphael//Nigel Coulson-Stevens who lost out on countback.  Nearest the pin was won by Brian Pound with an excellent shot however Brian could not convert his putt for a two, unlike Ed Rowe who took the jackpot with the only two of the day.
