Captain’s Cup at Tehidy Park – Monday 14th September

Report:

Monday 14th September – 38 of us made it from 12-clubs plus RTZ visiting to say hello after his eye-Op.

The weather held fair and the course was in good condition with a few revamped bunkers as NPZs.

We had £22 already in the 2s pot carried over from Porthpean. Adding £38 from today it made an attractive prize except, after 114 attempts today (38-players x 3 Par 3s), nobody managed to claim a share. So, the 2s pot will carry over now to Launceston on the 7th October.

Nearest-the-pins all won x3 Titleist balls:

2nd – Mike Jenkin

5th – Steve Marks

12th – Colin Marshall

Best individual on count-back with 36pts, winning a bottle of wine – Mike Jenkin

Pairs result:

1st on 45pts – Mike Jenkin & Jim Duffield (3-bottles of wine each) winning the Captain’s Cup for 2026

2nd on 44pts – Keith Abbott & Keith Field (2-bottles of wine each)

3rd on count-back with 43pts – Jim Arymar & Mike Cuffin (1-bottle of wine each)

The raffle took in £140.

Thanks to Tehidy Park GC; Alan for booking the day; Richard and Steve for the raffle; Steve for the finances and Brian for the photos.

Our next meeting can be booked on the website and will be at Launceston GC on 7th October.

WHS Update

WHS have made changes to the Handicapping system by adding (Course Rating – Course Par) to the current Course Handicap!
This change will affect lower handicap golfers more than higher ones.
It is now possible to submit a 4BBB score for handicap under certain conditions.
There is also a change to the score recorded for a hole not played.

The details can be found by clicking this link – WHS Changes
