Mixed Greensomes at St Austell report

Friday 5th June

Well, weren’t we lucky with the weather? Not a single group came in wet although our hair dos may have taken some abuse in the wind.
Some really interesting approaches during the game to report. For example, one couple both attempted tee shots from the short 16th by playing along the ground and down the path.  One other couple had a novel approach with the man taking a tee shot and then playing his own ball for the second. Comment from his partner was ‘I told him but he wouldn’t listen!”
The raffle took £115 in sales.
Nearest-the-pin was won by Barrie Collins who received a bottle of wine.
The 2s pot of £26 was scooped by Barrie and Margaret Collins with the only 2 recorded today.
In 1st place with 40pts were first timers in the Mixed, Craig and Annette Martin from Falmouth who each received 3 bottles of wine.
In 2nd place with 38pts were two other newcomers to CSGA, Will and Nicola Scarth from Launceston, each recieving 2 bottles of wine.
In 3rd place with 37pts on countback of the last 6-holes were Don Ruhrmund from West Cornwall and Ruth Rogers from Tehidy, each getting a bottle of wine.
Other pairs with 37pts were Alan Price and Lyn Wilson (Falmouth) plus Ian Coutts and Kate Ruhrmund (West Cornwall).
Photo is of the winners being presented with the Hilda Williams trophy.

WHS Update

WHS have made changes to the Handicapping system by adding (Course Rating – Course Par) to the current Course Handicap!
This change will affect lower handicap golfers more than higher ones.
It is now possible to submit a 4BBB score for handicap under certain conditions.
There is also a change to the score recorded for a hole not played.

The details can be found by clicking this link – WHS Changes
