Autumn Shield @LauncestonEarly Spring Meeting 2026 @Bowood

Bowood Park GC

On Wednesday the 18th of March in glorious weather with the course in superb playing conditions. 38 members of the CSGA played in our first event of the season. What could go wrong? Not much if you ask the winners. However, before a ball was struck in anger for Crispin Sadler he was injured in a bizarre accident in the practice net. A ball rebounding off the metal frame of the practice net hit his hand causing a lot of pain and swelling and he could not complete his round. Best wishes to Crispin on a speedy recovery. Apologies were given by our Captain Simon, Clive, Andy and Balu who all had to withdraw due to ill health. We wish you all a speedy recovery. To Mike and John who stepped in to help out thank you so much.

Down to the presentation of prizes, there were five members dipping their sticky fingers into the two’s cash pot prizes winning £9 each for carding a two on a hole.

Nearest the pin was on the tough 11th hole and that was won by Mike Paige with a superb tee shot.

The winners today were all very close but in third prize with 36pts was Jim Jeffries and John Pengelly with 36pts. Beating them into second place on countback was Peter Mehigan and Mike Paige. However, with a fantastic 38pts the winners today were Dave Ambrose and Paul Jones.

The next event is the SPRING SHIELD at The Point on April the 22nd and this event is now live to book. In addition, I have opened a window of opportunity to purchase items of clothing via the web site. Go to – https://www.csga.club

WHS Update

WHS have made changes to the Handicapping system by adding (Course Rating – Course Par) to the current Course Handicap!
This change will affect lower handicap golfers more than higher ones.
It is now possible to submit a 4BBB score for handicap under certain conditions.
There is also a change to the score recorded for a hole not played.

The details can be found by clicking this link – WHS Changes
